This past Saturday at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga, TN, The Mocs won their 4th straight game in dominant fashion against Wofford 37-5, This came on a total offensive performance of 321 total yards, 145 via passing while 175 yards came on the ground for Chattanooga.
Senior Quarterback Chase Artopoeus went 13-19 for 145 passing yards and one touchdown. While multiple Mocs combined for a total of 176 yards on the ground, led by Redshirt Junior Reggie Davis’s 74 yards and Chase Artopoeus’s 36 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground.
While on the other side, Wofford struggled offensively going 1-13 on third downs and giving 4 turnovers, all four being interceptions, with three of them being thrown by starting quarterback Paul Seeley V. The only scoring for the Terriers came from an early 37- yard field goal by Devery Cagle. And later on a 44-yard punt that pinned Chattanooga on their own 1-yard line, then pushing Mocs running back Reggie Davis back into the end zone for a safety.
Chattanooga would dominate the rest of the game to get a big 37-5 win at home. Down in Macon, GA, Samford would get a huge upset win against undefeated and 7th overall ranked Mercer to open up the conference. With Western Carolina 3-0 in conference play, and now Mercer and Chattanooga tied at 3-1 in the SoCon standings, This could be a very interesting race for the SoCon title within the next few weeks of the season, as well as puts into question, who in the SoCon makes the FCS playoffs, and will we see 2 teams make it?
That question will be answered soon, but what will the answer ultimately end up being?
