The Bill Schwanke Award Finalists

By: Holly Malkowski

The Bill Schwanke Award is named after longtime Montana Grizzlies Radio voice. It is presented each year to the top play-by-play radio broadcaster in FCS football. Here's a look at this year's candidates.

Davis Gregory - University of Tennessee at Martin

Davis Gregory graduated from UT Martin last May, and returned to be a broadcaster shortly after, in August. He is the lead announcer for the ESPN+ productions of football, men’s basketball, softball, soccer, and volleyball. He also covers football and men’s basketball on the radio. He worked at the campus radio station “The Hawk” throughout college and was the Sports Director there for three years.

Mark Willoughby - Southeastern Louisiana University

Willoughby is the voice of the SLU Lions and the National Director of the East Coast Sox Baseball organization. He was an MLB Scout for 20 years, earning 2x Marlins Scout-of-the-Year honors.

Keaton Gillogly - Montana State University

Gillogly started as the MSU football and basketball play-by-play announcer in the 2022 season. He graduated in 2011 from Valparaiso before spending a decade at Michigan State University calling women’s basketball. During this time he filled in with the Big Ten Network and also called high school football in Michigan.

Rick Cameron - Mercer

Cameron has been the “Voice of the Bears” since 2005. He has called football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball and softball. He was inducted into the Mercer Athletic Hall of Fame in 2019 and has been with them for monumental moments, such as the 2015 men’s basketball upset over Duke.

Bob Black - Richmond

The “Voice of the Spiders,” Black has been with Richmond since 1983. He hosts a daily radio show called “The Sports Huddle” on ESPN Richmond. Black does play-by-play for basketball and football along with hosting a weekly radio show with the head coach of each. He is a four-time Virginia Sportscaster of the Year Award Winner. Black graduated from Syracuse University in 1981 and was recognized for forty years of service with Richmond in 2023.
